4. Data Destruction

All customer hard drives that are replaced must have data securely destroyed:

  • Software wipe: 3-pass overwrite (NIST 800-88) for drives being resold
  • Physical destruction: Drilled through platters or shredded for disposal
  • All destruction is logged in the Data Destruction Register

5. Recycling Partners

  • GreenTech Recycling — E-waste collection (monthly, first Tuesday)
  • Battery World Melbourne — Battery recycling
  • City of Melbourne — Free e-waste collection events

6. Energy Conservation

  • Turn off monitors and equipment at end of day
  • Set computers to sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity
  • Print double-sided where possible
  • Use reusable cups in the break room
2025 Goals: Divert 90% of e-waste from landfill | Reduce paper usage by 30% | 15% energy reduction
