End-of-Day Closing Procedure

Closing Staff: The last person to leave is responsible for completing ALL items on this checklist. Do not leave until complete and the alarm is set.

5:00 PM — Begin Closing Prep

  • Make the final "15 minutes to closing" announcement to any remaining customers
  • Do not accept new intake jobs after 5:15 PM (unless urgent and pre-approved)
  • Begin tidying the front counter and customer waiting area

5:15 PM — Workshop Closing

  • Save all work on workshop computers
  • Put all in-progress devices back in their numbered lockers
  • Return unused parts to stock (log in StockMate)
  • Clean workbenches — wipe down with appropriate cleaner
  • Put away all tools in designated locations
  • Secure ESD straps and mats
  • Dispose of any waste appropriately (check recycling bins)

5:25 PM — Cash Register Reconciliation

  1. Run the End of Day Report on the POS terminal
  2. Count all cash in the register
  3. Complete the Cash Register Reconciliation Sheet
  4. Record any discrepancies — investigate and note the cause
  5. Separate the float ($200) from the deposit amount
  6. Place deposit cash in the deposit bag — seal and sign
  7. Lock the deposit bag in the safe
  8. Lock the float in the safe
  9. Both closing staff must sign the reconciliation sheet

5:35 PM — Security & Facilities

  • Turn off all workshop lights
  • Turn off all workshop monitors (leave servers on)
  • Turn off front counter display monitors
  • Turn off air conditioning (set to economy mode if available)
  • Check all windows are closed and locked
  • Ensure the back door is locked (key lock + deadbolt)
  • Check the loading dock door is locked
  • Ensure no customer devices are left unsecured outside lockers
  • Collect all rubbish and take to the bins outside

5:45 PM — Final Checks

  • Walk through the entire premises one final time
  • Verify all workstations are locked (Win+L)
  • Check the server room door is locked
  • Ensure the front door is locked (test the handle!)
  • Take a final photo of the shop (for insurance records)

5:50 PM — Alarm & Exit

  1. Enter the alarm code on the front panel
  2. You have 60 seconds to exit — go through the front door
  3. Lock the front door from outside
  4. Verify the alarm panel shows "SYSTEM ARMED" (green light)
  5. If the alarm doesn't arm, call Ben Wallace immediately: 0412 345 678

5:55 PM — Closeout

  • Email a summary to Ben with: total transactions, any discrepancies, number of devices received/completed, any security concerns
  • Leave the key in the designated drop box (if applicable)

Alarm Codes

CONFIDENTIAL: Alarm codes are changed monthly. Current codes are stored in the Key Safe. Do NOT share alarm codes with anyone outside authorised staff. Emergency disarming code is in the sealed envelope in the office safe.
